Details and Properties
The leakage of toxic or flammable gases poses a significant hazard in industrial sites, with the potential for severe casualties and damage. Gas detectors utilize various sensors depending on the type of gas detected. From a performance perspective, these sensors are categorized into four main types: Light Sensors, Electrochemical Sensors, Catalytic Sensors, and PID (Photoionization Detectors). Common flammable gases include hydrocarbons such as methane and propane, as well as hydrogen. Notable toxic gases include hydrogen cyanide, hydrogen sulfide, nitric oxide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and ammonia.
Flame detectors:
To prevent the spread of fire, it is crucial to detect it at its earliest stage. Flame detectors, which respond to the electromagnetic waves emitted by flames, can be utilized for rapid fire detection. These detectors use either IR (infrared) and UV (ultraviolet) sensors, or a combination of both, depending on the probable type of fire in a given scenario. Key applications for flame detectors include the storage of flammable materials, industrial storage facilities, industrial sites producing hydrocarbon condensate, boiler rooms, fuel tanks, and more.
Regarding the electrical output of flame detectors (4-20mA) and their critical importance in various industries, safety PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) panels are preferred over conventional and addressable panels. These safety PLC panels not only connect to industrial detectors but also accommodate standard fire alarm equipment such as manual call points, smoke detectors, and heat detectors through specialized input modules. Consequently, Safety PLC panels can seamlessly integrate circuits for both standard and industrial fire detectors.
